Dreamland
Devastated by an unknown debilitating disease, Lux could hardly call their kingdom of Elswyth “home.”
This collection of twelve (12) songs and additional bonus tracks tells the story of Lux; a weary child from the Elyswth kingdom. The story begins when Elyswth is devastated by an unknown debilitating disease.
Determined to find an antidote for both themselves and their kingdom, the little wanderer ventures outside their crumbling motherland and stumbles into this otherworldly terrain they’ve documented as “Dreamland.” Captivated by its alluring creatures and flora, Lux almost forgets they’re dying. But as they too are becoming more and more enfeebled, desperation sets in. Our little wanderer is willing try anything for relief, even a poisonous and addictive tea. It isn’t until Lux realizes they need to face the root cause of their disease can they be led to a cure that can truly heal them.
The story of Dreamland is a metaphor, with the disease being an allegory for parasitical emotions we all struggle with. Each song utilizes fantastical metaphors to symbolize different phases we may go through as we try to cope and eventually heal. The album provides a voice to teenagers struggling with mental health. It offers them a safe space to look upon their own Dreamland where they too can find unconditional love and acceptance, and know that each of us are worth more than our sufferings and that our stories, even the painful ones, are a beautiful part of us, and there will always be an unwritten melody waiting for them.
